The 8 contestants from XJTU made their way from the campus preliminary contest to the national final, for which they were qualified with gold prizes in the Shaanxi provincial competition.

Since its launch in March, the 2023 “FLTRP Uchallenge” National University Foreign Language Skills Competition has attracted nearly 1 million contestants from over 1,300 universities and colleges in 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions nationwide. With the theme of “Understanding Contemporary China, Telling China’s Stories Well”, it tested the contestants’ ability of logic, comprehension and expression through different types of questions in videos, texts and pictures, so as to help students in the new era better understand Chinese policies and their connotations, broaden their global perspectives, and learn to better tell China’s stories.

School of Foreign Studies (SFS) attached great importance to the competition by providing its contestants with training venues and one-on-one tutorship. In future, SFS will encourage more students to participate in competitions of foreign languages and enhance their abilities in language use and innovation. Paired with language teaching, the competitions will boost talent cultivation of XJTU.
